I’m guessing that the amazing “Museum” demo on the Silicon Studio website was not created with Paradox, or if it was, it uses a heavily modified version? Is there any chance that the lighting technology in that demo will find its way into Paradox? And if so, will it likely only be part of a commercial offering? And if so, would that be commercially accessible by tiny one-man indie development setups, as UE4 is?
While the Museum demo was indeed not done with Paradox, we are actively working on providing advanced PBR materials, lightening shaders and post-effects in an upcoming release of Paradox (for GDC, 2015 with hopefully some alpha before). All this work should drastically improve the rendering quality in Paradox, and we have also lots of plans to work on even more advanced features next year (like multi-BRDF materials).
This should be part of the core Paradox, so we don’t expect to charge for them.
We will give more insights in an upcoming blog post about all the stuff we are working on, stay tuned!
