New engine to use, but nobody knows how to use it

There is much potential for Xenko, but It seems that developing a game on it is not a viable option because complete lack of information - the documentation is missing and nobody who knows how the engine works seem to answer the questions, so everyone is in the dark. Documentation & answers on how to use engine should be top 1 priority, not anything else. If there is no documentation and the devs and people who know anything about the engine are not answering questions, nobody can use it nor teach anyone else how to use it, so in the end it will be that nobody uses it and the engine dies, that’s it.

Examples are part of the install.

I got the impression that you just went to the forum to write this message. And open other tabs to learn it, not a lot though, you’re not. The new engine is only developing and improving in accordance with quality requirements, it is already good enough. Documentation is already enough to be receiving considerable opinion on the engine. I think that to develop it the project is feasible, if you make the effort. If you have questions, ask them here, the community is alive, I will do my best!

And at the same time a couple of games was released. Magic.

Seriously though, are there any video tutorials out there at all? The closest thing I can find is the one by GamesFromScratch, but it’s more of just him looking at the engine than showing us how to do anything useful

To be honest, It’s kinda similar to the way Unity works, if you ever worked with Unity, you should be pretty familiar for most standard things like moving entities etc etc.
Then it’s about C#, events, triggers, etc etc.

And then, you have darker areas of the engine. But if you’re a complete novice, yeah, look at how Unity works.

Just my two cents but I think Xenko just needs a dedicated project/team of dev that are willing to go that extra mile to dig into Xenko and try it not only from an editor perspective but also from coding. Given our team dynamic I think that is what Thou Curator will be doing for the next several months. We will try to get most the information on the forums or answer area as possible so there is more content help.

Our nightly installer build is on the page below if your interested.
